ModuleWorks Simulation and Verification Component

ModuleWorks provide a complete solution for Simulation of full machine tool movement and/or material removal for both Mills and Lathes.

Simulation will identify problem areas such as potential collisions and allow correction prior to NC Code generation and is becoming an increasingly essential aspect of the CAM process today. Improvements in graphics and CPU technology make full simulation a viable option on today’s PC hardware.

Our solution can be supplied as a complete out-of-the-box product or a set of APIs to allow full integration with your existing application. Simulation utilise full kinematic model of the target machine and allows virtually any machine tool configuration to be modelled and simulated.

There are three aspects to ModuleWorks simulation technology, Machine Simulation offering full kinematic simulation of machine tool movement during machining, verification to show the full stock removal process and analysis to detect excess material, potential gouges and other manufacturing information.

Key features of our Simulation technology are shown below:

Machine Simulation:
  • Photo realistic simulation of the machine tool including full kinematic movement of each linear and rotary axes
  • 50+ working kinematic machine tool models with tools to facilitate easy creation of new models and derivatives
  • Standalone application has a modern and customisable User Interface supporting the latest Windows Vista style guides
  • Flexible collision detection options including tool, holder or moveable machine tool item against stock, fixtures or any other machine tool component
Verification:
  • Definition of full 3D stock model for toolpath verification with block-by-block verification of 3-5 Axis milling or turning toolpaths
  • Collision detection options including holder against stock and rapid movement into stock
  • Photo realistic image of the as machined component
Analysis:
  • Analysis options using colour to indicate amount of material remaining
  • Measurement tools for verification of in-process model
  • Comparison of in-process model and design mode to highlight gouges or remaining material.
  • Visualisation of actual machined surface finish with ability to zoom to detail
  • Toolpath analysis tools including indication of segment lengths, cutting order, linear and angular axis changes

Used in combination, ModuleWorks Simulation help to ensure right first time machining with optimum toolpaths
